Basic Info
Name:Rebirth of X -- Xiao
Bio
- Basic Information -

Character Name: (Copy-)X, *Xiao, Xavier, CN-00

Character Type: Secondary

Place of Origin: A likely-to-soon-be AU of Rockman Zero. Xiao has only been alive for a little less than a year; this places his timeline approximately four to five years before the starting-point of Rockman Zero 1. More specifically, he is from the Chronias tower in Eden Dome, Neo-Arcadia.

Armored Description: Xiao as of yet possesses no armour, as he has not required it and seldom (until recently) leaves Chronias to begin with.

He is armed with a buster system similar to that possessed by X, with a few notable modifications. On the one hand, Xiao can reflexively switch his buster-fire from a multicoloured plasma effect to a flame-, frost-, or thunder-based elemental discharge; on the other, he cannot charge his buster as highly as X had been capable, though the limitations are intended to be lifted at a later date. This system remains limited in size and scope, however, so long as he remains unarmoured.

Unarmored Description: Xiao is deceptively slight, standing at an even five feet and being rather more slender than his clone-father. He is pale, and has light blue eyes for some inexplicable reason (though he's not complaining), that shift to brilliant cherry-red when he is angered or feeling devilish. His dark hair is kept stubbornly long, and pulled back into a tail which often flops onto one shoulder.

His age is oddly indeterminate; he could be twelve to twenty as they say, though his slight stature and lightly-built frame lend him an eerie, childlike quality.

Thus far Xiao has dodged the halter-and-bodysuit 'uniform' common to the Four Daevas, preferring to dress in more comfortable, high-collared affairs in blues or white.

- History and Personality -

Passing for Human: If one ignored the somehow-childlike agelessness (and the red eyes), Xiao can come across as surprisingly humanlike. He is warm to the touch – though sometimes seeming slightly fevered, if overcharged – and his pseudoflesh has the texture and 'give' of human flesh. Though still technically genderless, he has been sculpted with proper musculature, nipples and navel – and it is unlikely that he would disrobe to the point of revealing anything further in the first place. His hair grows, as do his nails; the attention to detail in his design is almost obsessive. All required access-ports are hidden behind immediately-sealable pseudoflesh. This convincing facade is marred a little, however, by his soft, lilting and oddly-pitched voice.

Xiao – unlike many “common” reploids of his world and time – retains the ability to sustain himself on biofuels and organic compounds as well as e-crystals and similar conventional energy sources.

Backstory: Upon X's disappearance (and sealing of Darkelf within Yggdrasil), the Council that made up the remainder of Neo-Arcadian government was thrown into a panic. When X proved unrecoverable, they set one of their genetically-enhanced prodigies – Ciel – to the task of cloning a replacement to set at the head of the governmental body without alarming the populace. The result of that project (after a handful of failed attempts, quickly and quietly disposed of) was Copy-X.

Immediately upon “hatching” from the sealed chamber in which the final details were completed, Copy-X was whisked away from Ciel and settled into Chronias, one of the most prominent towers within Eden Dome, and his instruction began. Though he possessed X's intellect and something of a shred of his core personality, the Council required someone rather more amenable to their vision of Neo-Arcadia, and thus the clone's education was and is somewhat biased – and regular probing into his mind assures that the lessons are received.

The human Council is aided in this endeavour by the Four Daevas – who have themselves been surreptitiously altered to accept the copy as a by-necessity remodeled and greviously traumatized X, who now unfortunately was now required to relearn many things from scratch. Though both the majority of the Daevas and the Council variously refer to him as X or occasionally Xavier, Harpuia – in a demonstration of rare humour, or perhaps unconscious acknowledgment of the real situation – consistently names him as Xiao, or “apprentice” in an extinct human tongue.

As the energy crisis began to loom Xiao's instruction began to shift from administration and dispensation of justice – among other tasks – into more overt means of manipulation and coercion. At the same time that the Council encouraged him to believe that he is a vast improvement over the original X – more than capable of succeeding where X “failed” -- it also made a point to impress the veritable godhood of his predecessor into Xiao's mind; a combination quite likely to turn toxic if left for him to mull over for too long.

Nearly a year on into his life, Xiao has grown restless. Wishing to actually see what this sprawl of Neo-Arcadian domes consists of, he has taken to eluding his minders with almost diabolical cleverness, making use of passcodes, hacking, cyberelves and his own authority with equal abandon. One such escape brought the massing of the Pantheon units to his attention, a development which disturbs him on a core level; his most recent endeavour involved reprogramming a rare personal teleporter to answer his direct transmissions – and this has freed from his home dimension altogether.

Personality in a Nutshell: Still inexperienced, Xiao is prone to taking events and individuals at face value; having been created to fill a position of immense authority, he has not experienced much in the way of 'disobedience' or obvious manipulation. He can be mulishly stubborn – especially if he is flat-out contradicted or told he is wrong without explanation – but is not yet so inflexible in his thinking that he completely refuses to give up a debate. By the same token, he is just as stubbornly loyal to those few people he manages to form bonds with.

He possesses X's intelligence and to a certain extent his skills; he also holds to X's desire for peace and prosperity for the people of Neo-Arcadia, but in his case these desires are backed by a ruthless and surprisingly jaded pragmatism. For the betterment of the many, a few may need to suffer; and expediency is the best, swiftest and most merciful way to deal with social ills and the coming shortages. After the pain, Xiao, reasons, it will all be worthwhile, won't it?

Ultimately, beneath his engineered learning and drive to lead, Xiao is essentially a youngster with an adult mind and a very old soul. He prefers Harpuia's nickname to any other reference, holding as it does no echo of his clone-father's life; conversely, he is hell-bent on proving himself the equal, if not the better, of X and all he'd achieved.
